About Us
The Africa-Korea Economic Development Association is a nonprofit organization that supports collaboration between African and Korean institutions. Formed under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Korea, AKEDA connects development priorities with industrial expertise, knowledge exchange, and investment cooperation.
Our Vision
To serve as the premier Asia-Africa cross-border convergence platform — catalyzing sustainable economic growth, resilient infrastructure, and localized industrial capacity across African partner states through multilateral alignment.
Our Mission
AKEDA mobilizes capital, advanced technologies, and public-private consortia to design and deploy critical infrastructure and industrial programs across Africa. By translating national development priorities into bankable, PPP-ready ventures, AKEDA fosters self-sustaining local growth, enhances regional economic integration, and reinforces Korea’s long-term ODA and trade commitments.
Our Foundation
Korea’s development experience offers lessons in industrial growth, infrastructure, and institutional capacity. AKEDA creates a forum for sharing those lessons with African counterparts in ways that reflect their own goals, capabilities, and cultural contexts.
Our work recognizes each country’s priorities while encouraging cooperation that strengthens regional capacity. The five pillars of people, knowledge, capital, nature, and multilateralism guide this approach.
AKEDA was established in 2019.
How we work
- Engage: Discuss development priorities with the relevant institutions.
- Define: Establish scope, participating organizations, required expertise, and capital needs.
- Convene: Bring suitable public, private, and knowledge partners into the discussion.
- Develop and support delivery: Agree a program framework, responsibilities, monitoring, and arrangements for local capacity.
